Consultation Fees
Office staff are happy to provide a breakdown of consultation, imaging and procedural fees upon request. All fees are payable on the day of consultation. Concession holders are eligible for a 10% discount on the consultation fee (initial or review) upon presentation of a valid concession card. A medicare rebate form will be submitted on your behalf at the time of consultation. Medicare will generally send the rebate directly to your bank account within 3-5 business days of the consultation.
Overseas Patients
If you are an overseas patient from a country where there is no Reciprocal Health Care Agreement with Australia, you will not be eligible for Medicare and you will be responsible for payment of all fees and services. Non-Medicare patients are billed for inpatient and outpatient services regardless of choice of public or private hospital admission.
Fees for Surgical Procedures
A/Prof Sinclair follows the Australian Medical Association (AMA) fees list for all head and neck surgeries. For laryngeal surgeries, A/Prof Sinclair participates in the Known Gap Scheme. This will be discussed with you at the time of your consultation. You will be advised of the MBS item numbers for your procedure(s).
All payments are to be made in full at least 48 hours prior to the surgery date and insurance / medicare rebates will be processed on your behalf.
Other Possible Fees
There may be other charges involved in you care and you need to check with your helath fund to see what is covered for additional areas of service. Potential areas of cover include:
- Hospital charges
- Surgical Assistants (fee is generally 20% of the surgical out-of-pocket fee)
- Anaesthetics
- Tests (Radiology, Pathology)
The surgical fee covers all post-operative consultations within the first month after surgery.
